Yes, it’s true. I love my garlic press. It’s strong, it’s powerful, it’s easy to clean, it’s fun to use. It saves me time in the kitchen and turns garlic into perfectly even bits. It even eliminates the tiresome task of peeling the garlic. Watch this baby in action at the Twenty Minute Cooking School.
Chefs are going to disagree — frankly, many of you may disagree, or argue that a garlic press isn’t worth the money since it’s just a one-trick gadget, and that you can easily do the same thing with a chef’s knife. I agree with both points: yes, it only does one job in the kitchen, but it’s a job that needs doing every damn day, sometimes twice a day! And sure, you can get similar results with a knife….but not exactly, and it takes rather longer.
Anything that makes cooking easier, fast, less annoying and more do-able is worth it’s weight in gold. I think this one from OXO is the best garlic press I’ve ever used. Do yourself a solid and get one. Then make this delightful spinach dish, it’s soooo good.
